Being into fitness means not just going to the gym but also ensuring you have the right mind set and making sure you are eating the right things.
The fitness market has been flooded by products aimed at health-conscious consumers.
I only recommend products to clients I know have worked for me personally and I will share with you some tips in future blogs.
However, one product I will not be recommending is Tom’s of Maine. Tom’s of Maine isn’t owned by Tom and nor is it from Maine. It’s owned by Colgate-Palmolive. So what? Well look what ingredients are included:
- Zinc Chloride
- Titanium dioxide
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Aluminium has been repeatedly linked to breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and infertility to name a few. The Dangerous Substance Directive describes Zinc Chloride as “harmful, irritant and dangerous for the environment’.
Aluminum has been repeatedly linked to breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, generalized permanent damage to the central nervous system, brittle bones, autism, infertility, hormonal imbalance. Titanium dioxide is a a human carcinogen! The added Carrageenancan cause gastrointestinal inflammation and has found to lead to colon cancer in laboratory animals. Lastly, Sodium Laurel Sulfate studies have shown links to organ toxicity.
So what would I recommend?
I recommend to my clients to use a scrum of coconut oil, which is an antibacterial for germs, baking soda for whitening and mint to taste. The best thing is you can get to change the flavouring based on your personal preferences - spearmint can be used and one of my clients prefers to use Cinnamon oil.
